This is by no means a comprehensive list but a selection of those available. Prices are fairly recent ones given on
Amazon. For more advanced books, which are often more expensive, it would be best to come to one of our forays
and discuss these with one of the experienced members of the group.
Books for real beginners. These books do not contain too many species so should not confuse the beginner.

Mushrooms, by Roger Phillips, Published by Macmillan, £18.99. Some people prefer the larger illustrations of the
earlier edition but the latest edition covers more species, errors of the previous edition have been eradicated and
English names added.
Collins Complete Guide to British Mushrooms and Toadstools, by Paul Sterry and Barry Hughes. Published by
Collins, £ 16.99 A very comprehensive book of photographs of species.
Collins Fungi Guide, by Stephan Buczacki, Chrys Shields and Denys Overden. Published by Collins. A very detailed
book, specimens are illustrated by paintings. Hardback £22, paperback £16

General reading about Fungi
From Another Kingdom. The amazing world of fungi. Ed. by Lynne Boddy and Max Coleman. Published by Royal
Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Approximately, £22 A very readable wide ranging survey of the fungus world written by
experts in their field.
Fungi, by Brian Spooner and Peter Roberts. Published by Collins, £25. A detailed overview of the fungi containing
many fascinating details.
